In this presentation, I will question the labour consequences of war and war-induced forced migration. More and more in the world, refugees are being integrated in the labour market as forced labourers without being integrated in any other realms of the society. They work in modern slavery conditions in domestic work, construction, mining, manufacturing and packaging, agriculture and fishing as well as prostitution and illegal activities. In this speech, I will be talking about the refugee agricultural workers in Turkey. Capitalism benefits from wars, and although peace does not prevent exploitation, wars certainly multiply it in all its forms. The challenge is to defeat forced migration as well as forced labour not only in war times but also in peace times.
